Self Realization Fellowship

Sometimes you stumble onto a special place and you realize how lucky you really are.

A walk down Sunset Boulevard near the PCH brought me to the Self Realization Fellowship Lake Shrine. When we live in a time of such conflict, it was wonderful to come across the Court of Religions representing the five principal relgions of the world. As Paramahansa Yogananda states, "We must recognize the unity of mankind remembering that we are all made in the image of God. There must be world brotherhood if we are to be able to practice the true art of living."

Excerpt from "Simple Song of Freedom" by Bobby Darin

Come and sing a simple song of freedom
Sing it like you’ve never sung before
Let it fill the air
Tell the people everywhere
We, the people here, don’t want a war.

Seven hundred million are ya list'nin’?
Most of what you read is made of lies
But, speakin’ one to one ain't it everybody's sun
To wake to in the mornin’ when we rise?

Now, no doubt some folks enjoy doin' battle
Like presidents, prime ministers and kings
So, let's all build them shelves
Where they can fight among themselves
Leave the people be who love to sing.

Come and sing a simple song of freedom
Sing it like you’ve never sung before
Let it fill the air
Tell the people everywhere
We, the people here, don’t want a war.
